Every year, we work with a combination of repeat and new staff members. We always feature 17 bands, each with their own writer. We also try to get as many photographers to participate as possible.
We have an open nomination period (June 1st – November 30th of every year) for bands that meet the following requirements:
- They must be local to the Columbus, Ohio area.
- They must play out on a regular basis with other local bands as well as regional or national touring acts.
- They must have released, or will release an album within the duration of the volume production. (i.e., June 2011 to June 2012).
- They must actively work with local charities (eg. Columbus Music Co-op, the Dick and Jane Project, 101 for the Kids, and others.)
We are always looking for local writers and photographers to contribute to each volume and to our blog. If you are interested in participating, please email info@thehot17.com. We accept both professionals and talented amateurs in both fields.
